According to Urbanland, Continuum and GF Properties are still working to bring a hotel to Belmar. Urbanland quotes Continuum's Mark Falcone as saying, "it'll probably be a limited service hotel, like a Hyatt Place or a Courtyard by Marriott," and that "all I can say with certainty is it will be green."
Any thoughts on where they could fit a hotel? There does not seem to be a big enough block even for a smaller footprint of a typical Courtyard or Hyatt Place. The spot where Chik-fil-a would've gone in seems too small. Is there room in the SE corner? Or replace the NE parking lot by DSW?
ReplyDeleteIf I had to guess, I'd say the parking lot either to the east or the north of the Target store. Both are slated for eventual development.
ReplyDeleteIchy - love LOVE your blog - thank you for keeping us all up to date on Belmar! A question...the other commenter said 'where the Chik-fil-a WOULD'VE gone', does this mean no Chik-fil-a? I hope there will not be one, yuck. What will go in that spot then?
ReplyDeleteThe Chik-fil-A looks to be a go. The city planning department made the developer resubmit a couple of times, but a bid for the project has gone out and it looks like construction will start sooner rather than later. Final plans still call for a drive through and lots of surface parking. From my perspective, it's a disappointing design.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunate - I was hoping that a lengthy period of inactivity of the SP case at Lakewood's planning site and its subsequent disappearance from that list meant that it went away...
ReplyDeleteWell that is bad news. Chikfila is a terrible addition to Belmar. boooooo
ReplyDeleteAnother question - is Wystone tea moving to the old Press coffee spot? (Sad that Press closed) I saw a sign on the Press location this weekend that said Wystone teas coming soon. Thought you would know :)
